where are you based out of?

I currently am based out of Bellaire, MI, but you can take me anywhere. I live about 45 minutes away from Traverse City, Petoskey, Charlevoix, and Gaylord, and then about 2.5 hours north of Grand Rapids, MI. I grew up in Rockford, MI and my parents still live there, so when I shoot in Grand Rapids, I stay with them for the weekend and visit. 

 what kind of gear do you use? 

I am a Canon gal, and I shoot with only prime lenses currently.  My go-to’s are the 35 mm 1.4, 50 mm 1.2 and 85 mm 1.8. I love crisp images with soft and airy backgrounds (we call this wonderful thing “boca” in photography terms). I primarily shoot with my Canon 5D Mark III and my Canon 6D but I also have a third back up Canon 5D Mark II body and I have 2 Canon flashes. 

 how would you describe your work and style? 

I am journalistic in approach, I look for natural moments and seek to capture them. When needed, I gently instruct and give direction. I strive to catch all the little details, the things you want to remember and the moments you want to live over and over again. My images are airy, nostalgic, and natural. I want my images to make you feel something 

 what are the wedding albums like? 

I am a HUGE fan of Artifact Uprising so I use their lovely albums. You can check them out here!

 what is working with you like?

People have told me that I am laid back and that I help them feel comfortable in front of the camera. I am proud to hear that I help my clients feel less stressed and at ease during their shoots and wedding days. People that know me well say I am easy to be around, hard working, joyful and light hearted. On good days and bad, I have a joy from within that comes from my relationship with Jesus Christ. 

 can i customize a collection?

Yes! Please contact me if one of my collections isn’t meeting your needs, we can create one that does. 

What should I wear to my session?

Flowy sleeves and flowy dresses are always super fun for the ladies. For the guys I would say classic denim and grays/white/black is always a great look. Or if you have no clue where to start with an outfit, look at some of your favorite inspiration photos and see what the people are wearing, don’t copy them but is it a dress? Or jeans and tee? Find a look that is YOU! Another idea is to look at your favorite store and see what the models are wearing in the catalogues or on the mannequins- then style your outfit based on that look!
